With a huge army of supporters cheering on the BGS swimmers, the Senior GPS Carnival promised to be a very exciting and close competition. BGS Swimming Captain, Alexander Grant set the tone for the BGS team with a gutsy victory in the opening event, the 400m Freestyle.

The Southport School and Nudgee College got off to an early point lead, posting many victories in the first half of the program. As Grammar swimmers started to come to the fore during the breaststroke and butterfly events, the point margin between TSS and BGS lessened and our team started to gain momentum.

There were numerous outstanding individual performances throughout the day however special mention must go to Tom Rimmington who broke a 20-year-old GPS Record in the 16&U 50m Breaststroke. Alexander Grant, Michael Jones, Hunter Pyne and Alexander Fenton also won individual events during the afternoon.

We went into the relays neck and neck with Southport and knew that we were in with a chance. Our relay swimmers performed superbly with 8 out 10 teams placing in the top 3.

It was a wonderful team effort that showed both individual talent and team depth. Special mention must go to the following first place-getters during the meet.
