LATEST INFORMATION

To thank Swimmers for making themselves available for Relay Day, all athletes under age of 18 will be supplied with TWO relay Day tickets. This will allow parents of swimmer to avoid the MASSIVE line up for tickets to access the venue.

All other details are available at the links below

ROOM HIRE
BGS Has invested in hiring an air-conditioned room at Chandler.
Swimmers competing throughout the week can relax in the Hire Room, accessible only via pool deck.
This room is for swimmers only – parents are to remain in the stands.

TRAINING
Swimmers may not be competing everyday.
Coaches have asked athletes to come into Chandler and warm-up in the outdoor pool, between 9-11am on the days they are not competing. If this is not possible, please discuss other options with your coach.

UNIFORM
Swimmers are required to wear their BGS Uniform into marshaling, when being announced during finals and when presented with medals. Swimmers are required to wear BGS swimming caps throughout the competition.

RELAY DAY: Event 1 starts at 9:30am
Swimmers in first 5 events need to arrive at 8:00am

Heats Day 2-6: Heats start at 8:30am each day

Finals Day 2-6: Finals start at 6:00pm each day

SQ asks all Coaches and Swimmers to inform marshaling as early as possible during the Heats session if any swimmer will not be participating in an Event. This will allow Officials to reseed, ensuring each heat is full to encourage stronger racing. This will also help to save time throughout the meet.

2018 Brisbane Open Water Meet
Saturday, 22 September 2018
Lake Kawana Sunshine Coast

ENTRIES CLOSE 5pm Monday 11 SEPTEMBER 2018

ALL swimmers from State Development, National Age and Open Squads are expected to attend.

Swimmers in Junior Squads who wish to participate, are asked to discuss with their coach first.

Last year we saw over 40 athletes aging from 10 years to 45 years of age participate at the open water event. The main focus of this meet is simply participation as a team, in something different.

There will be no training at BGS on this day.

Please also note the addition of Open Water Relay Teams!

The BGS Swimming Program will set up a tent/marquee on the day. I encourage all swimmers and parents to bring plenty of sunscreen, water and a deck chair.

We will be conducting an OPEN WATER session at BGS on Thursday 13 September (afternoon session)

This session will allow swimmers to practice swimming from a “pack start” as well as practice turning around “flotation buoys”. Parents wanting to receive more information about the event, including safety/structure of the meet – from 5:15pm-5:30pm after the session.

Entering this meet will require members to have the following;

  1. Completed a BGS Swimming Club 2018/19 Season Membership Form (only one form needs to be completed per swimmer / per year)
  2. Swimmers must have completed their 2018/19 General Membership Payment
  3. Swimmers must have completed their 2018/19 Competitive Membership Payment to Swimming Australia, via the MyLane Portal – You will need your custom username and password – please contact bobby.jovanovich@brisbanegrammar.com if you do not know these details
